An Aussie puppy arrives smart, fast and highly interested in everything you would rather it ignore. The first weeks are mostly about structure: where things happen, when they happen, and what gets rewarded.

Preparing the home
- Decide the puppy's zones before arrival — sleeping, eating, playing, potty.
- Gate off stairs and rooms you are not ready to supervise.
- Set up washable rugs and easy floor access.
Puppy supplies
- Crate with divider
- Flat collar, harness, six-foot leash and long line
- Bowls and a sealed food container
- Soft brush and nail trimmer
- A small set of size-appropriate toys
- Enzymatic cleaner
Crate setup
Place the crate where the household actually lives, not in isolation. Feed meals inside it early so it reads as a good place before it is ever a requirement.
Toys for puppies
Size down, prioritize soft-but-durable, and rotate so nothing becomes background furniture.
